A Cornucopia of Thanks to Veterans
November–A Month of Thanksgiving
Part 2. A Cornucopia of Thanks to Veterans
Our nation’s heart beats to the tune of many different drummers; but on this eve of Veterans Day, let us come gratefully together to thank all who have served our country in the United States Armed Forces. Tomorrow, on November 11, let us find a way to share our gratitude with family members, friends, co-workers, acquaintances, and others who have served overseas and in our homeland. Then let us also teach our younger children and teenagers to understand and appreciate the service of our Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Space Force.
I am forever grateful that my dad (James F. Massa) and his three brothers (Charlie, Johnny, and Jules), as well as cousin Dominic Lanzone and my dad’s best Army buddy Ernie Kish–all came home safely and well from Europe during their service in World War II. Like so many from the Greatest Generation, they spoke extremely little of their years of service–except for some of the lighter moments. My gratitude greatly extends to my younger nephew’s coming home well and strong from his service not only in Iraq, but also in Afghanistan.
May our American flag ever flap in the wind of freedom, thanks to our extraordinary veterans! May these relatives of my family and all men and women who have honorably served the USA be blessed abundantly.
Happy Veterans Day, and God bless America!
