Poetic Day 2 of National Poetry Month

April 2, 2019

Poetic Day 2 of National Poetry Month:  April 2, 2019

Are you spring cleaning during National Poetry Month?  Are you cleaning out and polishing off the poems in your archives?  Are you dusting off your desk or re-arranging furniture or words?  After my poem-of-the-day, I will share five prompts for your poetic crafting on this second day of National Poetry Month.

Moving Motivations

by Alice Jane-Marie Massa

A-a-ah, April!

While scents of spring cleaning are in the air,

I am perpetually

cleaning to move.

Half-decade dreams of moving

move me to clean

with one purpose,

one motivating goal in mind.

I cannot despair:

my anticipated

and long-awaited

retirement move

to “Back Home Again In Indiana”

must be

just one or two spring cleanings away.

PROMPTS FOR THE SECOND DAY OF NATIONAL POETRY MONTH

  1. Write a poem about spring cleaning.
  2. Write a poem about spring cleaning the archived files of your computer.
  3. Write a poem about dreams of moving or making positive changes in your life.
  4. Write a poem about packing for a real or imagined trip or move.
  5. Write a poem about allergies that blossom in April–ka-choo!

Many and special thanks to my writer friends (in order of posted appearance) Carol, Carrie, Valerie, Lynda, and Abbie  who wrote and shared outstanding “whisper” poems (from the April 1 prompt).  We did kick off National Poetry Month with poetic whispers.  Now, let’s continue with some of you joining the “cleaning crew” of poetry crafters.  I look forward to reading more of your poems.

Enjoy National Poetry Month!

Happy poetry writing!
